If you are beginning your trip in Arusha, you will be picked up from your hotel at 07:30 and transferred to Arusha Airport for a shared charter flight to the Mahale Mountains National Park. It is possible that the flight will stop at a few different locations before finally landing at the Kalolwa airstrip in the afternoon. Visitors will be taken from the Kalolwa airstrip to the camp for lunch after they have filled out the paperwork needed to enter the park. After you’ve finished your meal and had some time to relax, it’s time to walk through the woods in the late afternoon. You have the option of staying at Fly Catcher Tented Camp or Tanapa Bandas, both of which are included in our economy trip package, or you can have dinner and spend the night at Grey Stock Camp, which is included in our luxury trip package
We will begin our search for chimpanzees immediately following breakfast. Hiking through the forest is simple for someone who is in very good physical shape, but the ascents that lead to the chimpanzees’ homes are not at all challenging! The natural grace that chimpanzees possess makes it impossible to remain unmoved by them. Even for what is known as a “budget trip,” a chimpanzee safari in Mahale cannot be considered an inexpensive trip. This is because the park is home to a large number of endangered chimpanzees. An incredible opportunity to get up close and personal with some species of primates that are in grave danger of extinction. While you are waiting for the sun to go down and for your dinner to be served, you can take some time to relax on the beach at Grey Stoke.
The hiking for the second-day trekking will begin shortly after breakfast in the early hours of the morning, and it is anticipated that it will be completed at or before lunchtime. After completing the morning’s hike, the next activity on the plan will be an evening water sport such as swimming, boating, or sport fishing. Following the final dinner, there will be an overnight stay at Grey Stoke.
After breakfast, you will say your goodbyes to the staff members of the camp and then make your way to the Mahale airstrip to catch the shared charter flight that will take you to either Arusha, Kilimanjaro, or Dar es Salaam. You have the option to continue your journey back home from there, or you can alter the course of your safari.
