11 Day Maasai Mara, Serengeti And Bwindi Gorilla Combined Safari

Overview

The Great Migration is nature's most humbling demonstration of perseverance, and safari enthusiasts from all over the globe go to Tanzania to see it. The Serengeti is a one-of-a-kind place to see huge herds of wildebeest and zebra as they move from Tanzania to Kenya in search of green grass to graze on. They travel across the vast Serengeti Plains and through a number of rivers on their way. This journey takes them back and forth between the two countries. This itinerary is tailor-made for travellers who are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of and connection with Tanzania. You will visit the less well-known Tarangire National Park in addition to traditional Maasai villages, the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, and of course, the world-famous Serengeti National Park!

Day 01 : Arrival Day: Kilimanjaro To Arusha

Kilimanjaro International Airport is your point of arrival. When you clear passport control, your safari guide, who will accompany you for the duration of your journey, will meet you outside the arrivals lounge. Will then transport you to your accommodation in Arusha, which will take around an hour. Before beginning your safari in Tanzania the next day, treat yourself to a delicious supper and a quiet evening.

Accommodations:

  • Arusha, Gran Melia
  • Arusha Coffee Lodge
  • Arusha Villa
02
Day 02: Taraangire

After breakfast, you'll leave Arusha and drive for two hours through beautiful tribal communities to Tarangire National Park. There, you'll go on a game drive and have a picnic lunch before checking into your accommodations in the late afternoon.

In Tanzania, Tarangire boasts the highest density of animals after the Serengeti. The Tarangire River serves as a draw for thirsty animals during the dry season. A wide variety of birds, lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and, of course, elephants may all be seen in the park's river. In fact, the park offers one of the best opportunities to study interactions between elephant families and has the highest population of elephants in the whole nation. Additionally, this is the only location in Tanzania where it's common to see dry-country antelope like oryx and gerenuk. The magnificent baobab trees at Tarangire and its amazing vistas of the Maasai Steppe and the Highlands to the south are its main attractions.

Accommodations:

  • Tarangire Safari Lodge
  • Maramboi Tented Camp
  • Ndovu Tented Camp
  • Mpingo Ridge
03
Day 03: Karatu

After breakfast, you will travel to Karatu, stopping at the thriving village of Mtowambu along the way to see the market.

You may engage in a range of activities in the Karatu region. Biking, trekking, or taking part in one of our Halisia Africa Experiences are all options available to you. Before settling into your lodgings near the Ngorongoro Crater rim for an overnight stay, you will discover a variety of things and experience a distinct side of Tanzania.

Accommodation

  • Marera Mountain View Lodge
  • Marera Valley
  • Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge
  • Ngorongoro Serena Lodge
  • Melia Ngorongoro Lodge
04
Day 04: Ngorongoro Crater; Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, you will be among the first cars to drive down the 600 metres into Ngorongoro Crater, where you will have the opportunity to see amazing wildlife while enjoying a picnic lunch. There are between 20,000 and 30,000 animals living in the natural boundary of the Ngorongoro Crater at any one moment, making it effectively Noah's Ark and home to nearly every kind of wildlife native to East Africa. There are more lions, hyenas, and leopards per square mile in the Crater than anywhere else in Africa, making it one of the continent's most famous natural attractions. To witness the critically endangered black rhino, this is also a top destination in Africa. Begin the long trek out of the crater in the afternoon and make your way to Central Serengeti for supper and a night's lodging.

Accommodations:

  • Melia Serengeti Lodge
  • Nyikani Camp
  • Serengeti Sametu Camp
  • Ole Serai Luxury Camps
  • Serengeti Safari Camp
05
Day 6-7: The Central Serengeti

You'll get to spend two full days in the Central Serengeti, an area of the park known for its stunning landscapes and abundance of wildlife, particularly big cats. When you go far into the Serengeti, you'll begin to see why it's called the "endless plains" in the local language. The Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya and the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania are two of Africa's best-known game reserves. Many people's mental picture of Africa includes acacia trees scattered over a vast grassland, maybe with a Masai warrior and some livestock nearby. Nearly two million wildebeest migrate across the Serengeti every year once the rains start. But that's not all there is to see; the grasslands are also home to gazelles, elands, and elephants, among other species of wildlife. Over the last several years, hot-air balloon safaris over the Serengeti plains have grown nearly as popular as regular vehicle safaris.

If you have a certain idea of how you'd like your days to go, we can make it happen. Your guide will work with you to choose the optimal wake-up and game-viewing times each day of the safari. You could go on a morning game drive, come back to the camp for lunch and some downtime, and then go on another game drive in the afternoon, or you could go on a full-day game drive and pack a picnic lunch.

Accommodations:

  • Melia Serengeti Lodge
  • Nyikani Camp
  • Serengeti Sametu Camp
  • Ole Serai Luxury Camps
  • Serengeti Safari Camp
06
Day 7-9: The Northern Serengeti

Visit the area of the Serengeti near the Mara River in the north, where the grass is very nutritious and can sustain the migrating herds. If you want to see the historic Mara River crossings, now is the time to go. Take a look at several massive crocodiles lounging in the water of the Nile as they wait for the great migration to pass by. The wildebeests and zebras' crossing of the Mara River is one of the most perilous portions of their trek, but if you're lucky, you could get to see it in person on your way to the Masai Mara. Travel for a total of three days.

Accommodations:

  • Lamai Serengeti
  • Mkombe’s House Lamai
  • Mara River Post
  • Serengeti River Camp
07
Day 10: Northern Serengeti To Arusha

Your time in the Serengeti comes to an end this morning. In the morning, you have the option of sleeping in or going on a brief game drive before making your way to Kogatende Airstrip for your flight back to Arusha. Depending on your preferences, you'll both be picked up and sent to Neema Village, an orphanage for abandoned, orphaned, and at-risk infants, or to The Plaster House, a facility that helps children from all across Tanzania recuperate following surgery. Staying at the luxurious Gran Melia Arusha for the night is the perfect way to cap off an exciting day.

Accommodations:

  • Arusha, Gran Melia
  • Arusha Coffee Lodge
  • Arusha Villa
