Gombe National Park Day Tour

Price:$215

Gombe National Park is Tanzania’s second-smallest national park. It is a distinctive chimpanzee habitat that is located on the rocky hills and river basins surrounding Lake Tanganyika’s sandy northern shore. Gombe National Park can be visited on a full-day excursion. Because of Jane Goodall’s excellent research, the chimpanzees in that area are accustomed to having human visitors. Her initiative for the study of human behaviour, which she launched in 1960, is now the world’s longest-running study of its kind. Kremlin, who was an adolescent when Goodall first arrived in Gombe, is the only surviving member of the community’s original population.
Kigoma Town is located 16 kilometres from the Gombe Stream National Park, which is located on Tanzania’s western border with the Congo. Jane Goodall, a resident primatologist, worked there for many years. It is possible that she is the park patron with the most notoriety. A boat trip from Kigoma to Gombe early in the morning is the only way to see Gombe Streams National Park in a single day. If you spend six to eight hours hiking around the park in search of chimpanzees, you’ll have plenty of time to take in all the stunning sights and sounds that nature has to offer. You have until 5:00 p.m. in the evening to vacate the park.

Tour Plan

01
Day 01 : Gombe National Park Day Trip

We recommend beginning your day at 7:00 a.m. with a boat journey from the Kigoma Aqua Lodge harbour to Gombe National Park on Lake Tanganyika. Visit the park’s visitor centre upon arrival to register and obtain information about the park’s history, conservation efforts, rules, and regulations.

Take a guided walking safari through the park to see chimpanzees in their natural habitat. The park is home to Jane Goodall’s research station, which you can visit to learn about history. The station has been converted into a museum and visitor centre that highlights the park’s history and the significance of its conservation efforts.

You can hike to the top of the Kakombe waterfall, which is located in the park, for adventurous activities. The walk is approximately three hours long and provides breathtaking views of the neighbouring landscape.

After the strolling safari, stop at the Gombe Stream Research Centre for lunch. The centre has a restaurant that serves delicious cuisine and provides information about the Jane Goodall Institute’s scientific research being conducted in the park.

After an eventful day, unwind on the beautiful shoreline by Lake Tanganyika. Relish a sunbath atop the lake and a swim in its glistening waters. Your day will conclude with a ride back to Kigoma at approximately 17 hours.
