When you arrive at Kigali International Airport, you will clear customs and immigration before being received by a representative from our firm. He or she will extend a warm welcome to Rwanda, often known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” After that, you’ll be transported to your hotel for supper and a night’s stay.
Rwanda’s capital and largest city is spread on rolling, green hills surrounded by high mountains, the tallest of which is Mount Kigali, which rises 1850 metres above sea level. Kigali is the country’s financial, economic, and cultural centre, with an international airport and a diverse selection of lodging, restaurants, and attractions such as the Kigali Genocide Centre, an atmospheric market, and several artisan stores. Kigali is considered one of the most beautiful towns in Africa, with its distinctive architecture, lively streets, meandering boulevards, and green slopes.
After an early breakfast, you’ll be on your way to Kigali for a city tour that will include a stop at the Kigali genocide memorial centre, which pays tribute to the over one million Rwandans who lost their lives during the 1994 genocide via educational programming and peacemaking. Some of the survivors of the attack have recorded video testimonials, which you can view and listen to here. After lunch, you’ll depart for Volcanoes National Park and the lodging where we’ve made reservations for you. Relax for the remainder of the day and get ready for a long day of hiking tomorrow.
You will be taken to the park’s administration building after breakfast. At the start of your gorilla trekking experience, you will meet your ranger, who will give you a full rundown of the rules you must follow. The next step is to go into the jungle in search of the gorillas. The gorillas’ pace through the forest, as well as your own, will determine how long the walk will take. Visit the gorillas and spend up to an hour with them. After your exciting adventure, you’ll walk back to the starting point and get a ride back to your resort in time for lunch. Following lunch, you have the option of unwinding at the lodge at your own pace or participating on a community stroll to get insight into Rwandan culture. We’ve booked a room for the night so you can rest easy after a long day.
After a hearty breakfast this morning, our safari driver guide will pick you up and take you to the park headquarters for a briefing so that you may begin your day of golden monkey trekking in the forest in search of these elusive primates. The experience of golden monkey trekking is similar to that of gorilla trekking, but with less of a rush. Golden monkey trekking is available in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. Visitors in groups of up to eight may embark on a search for golden monkeys in their native environment, an opportunity that is really one of a kind. The monkeys are always up for a good time and love to perform for the visitors and researchers they meet. The monkeys like the bamboo plants that grow around the volcano’s foot. After returning to the resort for lunch, you’ll be driven to the picturesque Lake Kivu for an evening of fishing. Dinner and overnight at the shore of Lake Kivu.
The coffee plantation and processing experience will take place in Kimbiri; therefore, you have to go there after breakfast. After a time, you will be transported to Nyungwe National Park. When you arrive, you’ll take a route to the canopy walk inside the national park. The stunning landscape on the other side of this suspension bridge is something to always remember. After a canopy walk, you will be taken to the hotel for dinner and the night.
Today, after a cup of African coffee or breakfast in the morning, you will leave your accommodation to explore the natural forest of Nyungwe, which is recognised for having 13 species of primates, and be taken to the park for a briefing and chimp trekking. You will have one hour to observe the chimp group before moving on to the next group. After the monkey hike, stop for lunch before visiting a tea plantation and learning more about how tea is made.
After a leisurely breakfast, set out for an Isumo waterfalls trek in the Nyungwe Forest, which is a 2- to 3-hour walk that explores a variety of waterfalls in the region. Some primates and a variety of birds may also be seen on a good day. Later, return to Kigali, pausing for lunch and a visit to the King’s Palace museum along the way, and arriving in the afternoon.
After finishing your leisurely morning meal, you will be taken to the airport to catch your connecting flight. Depending on your flight schedule (if in the afternoon), we will have a city tour by visiting the Nyamirambo Women Center and wandering about in Kigali suburbs to experience Rwandan culture before your departure flight. End of Trip.
