Tour Plan

01
Day 01 : Arrival in Kigali

Your driver will warmly welcome you to the “Land of a Thousand Hills” of Rwanda following your arrival at Kigali International Airport. After accompanying you through customs and immigration, your driver will take you to the hotel, where you have reservations for dinner and an overnight stay.

Kigali, the nation’s capital and biggest city in the country, spreads out across rolling, lush hills and is surrounded by towering mountains. At a height of 1,850 metres above sea level, Mount Kigali is the highest point in the country, and it looms above the city. The political, commercial, and cultural heart of the nation is located in Kigali. It offers a diverse range of housing alternatives, dining establishments, and points of interest, in addition to being serviced by an international airport. The Kigali Genocide Center, an atmospheric market, and various artisan boutiques are just some of the attractions that can be found there. Kigali is often regarded as being among the most visually pleasing cities in Africa on account of its distinctive architecture, lively streets, winding boulevards, and verdant hillside. If you find yourself in Africa at any time in your life, you owe it to yourself to pay a visit to this city.

02
Day 02: Akagera National Park day and night Game drives

After breakfast at your hotel, your safari guide will take you to Akagera National Park. Depending on stops, driving to Akagera takes 2.3 hours. Ask the guide for picture stops on the approach to the park since the terrain is so gorgeous and undulating. We’ll register at the park headquarters, then go on a game drive before settling into our rooms and having lunch. After ordering lunch, you may relax at your lodge or go on a brief game drive. You’ll return in the evening to relax. A two- to three-hour night game drive will tour the park and search for animals. Nighttime animals will be sought. After some hours, return to the lodge for tea and the night.

Akagera National Park’s wildlife are unmatched. Rwanda’s only Big Five wildlife park, this reserve also houses the Sitatunga. The Shoebill Stork, Papyrus Gonolex, and Red-faced Barbet are among the rare and endangered birds tourists may witness. Birdwatching is best at Akagera, which has the most species per unit area. It has about 500 bird species. The park features lakes, marshes, savannah, mountains, and woodlands amid central Africa’s largest protected wetland. The park is a World Heritage Site.

03
Day 03: Game drive and boat ride in Akagera national park

We begin the day with an early breakfast at 6:00 a.m., and after that, we go to Akagera National Park for an early morning game drive to meet up with hunters and early risers. Among other things, we’ll be on the lookout for big animals like newly reintroduced lions and rhinos, as well as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, various species of antelope, and so on. This park is a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 500 different species of birds living there. For a wide variety of animals and birds, the park provides a home. You will eventually return to the lodge for lunch after some time has passed. After lunch, we board a boat for a tour of Lake Ihema, where we see hippos, crocodiles, and buffaloes both inside the lake and along its shores, as well as elephants and buffaloes taking a dip. You should return to the lodge to have tea and stay the night when some time has gone.

04
Day 04: Full day game drive in Akagera national park

We go for an early morning game drive in Akagera National Park after breakfast at 6:00 a.m. to catch up with late hunters and early risers. In addition to freshly reintroduced lions and rhinos, we’ll be looking for large creatures including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, several types of antelope, and lions. With over 500 different bird species present, the park is a haven for a variety of fauna and bird species, making it a haven for birdwatchers. You’ll have lunch on a picnic. Continue your game drive after lunch to look for more of the diverse animals in this wonderful park’s northern area. Drive back to the lodge later to unwind and have supper.

05
Day 05: Transfer to Volcanoes national park

You will get into your car after a leisurely breakfast and go via Kigali to Volcanoes National Park. You will visit the Kigali Atrocities Memorial Grounds after lunch to learn more about what happened in Rwanda in 1994 during the country’s genocide. After that, you’ll go to Musanze where you’ll spend the night in an accommodation with a stunning view of the area’s hills and scenery.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda share a boundary at Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. It is most recognised for offering a shelter for the mountain gorillas who are in danger in the area. People go from all over the globe to see these wonderful creatures up close and in their natural environment. The Virunga Mountains’ wooded slopes, which are high, are where the park is situated. The closely supervised treks that occur across the reserve allow visitors to spend up to an hour at a time with these magnificent apes in their natural habitat. Without a doubt, the gorillas are the main attraction here, but visitors may also look forward to discovering a network of magnificent hiking paths, seeing the grave of the well-known Dian Fossey, and going on a romantic day trip to the Crater Lake on Mount Bisoke.

06
Day 06: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park

After breakfast at dawn, you’ll be transported to the park headquarters. Your ranger will teach you gorilla etiquette. You’ll then search the bush for gorillas. Depending on your party’s speed and the gorillas’ bush speed, the hike might take two to six hours. You can spend an hour with the gorillas. After a great journey, you will trek back to the starting point and be brought to your resort for lunch. After lunch, you may relax at your lodge or do a neighbourhood stroll to learn about Rwandan culture. You will return. The lodge provides food and lodging.

07
Day 07: Golden monkey trek and transfer to Gisenyi

After a full breakfast, our safari driver guide will pick you up and take you to the park headquarters for a briefing with your packed lunch. After the briefing, you’ll hunt the jungle for golden monkeys. Golden monkey trekking is calmer than gorilla trekking, but the experience is the same. After lunch at the lodge, you’ll go to Lake Kivu. Night fishing is available. Return to the hotel for dinner and the night.

Gisenyi is a charming Rwandan town surrounded by lush hills. It borders Congo’s Goma in Lake Kivu’s northeastern corner. The town offers a variety of activities on the lake, great beaches, and several coffee shops and restaurants. The Calafia Cafe has delicious pastries (the banana cake is famous), various meals, and sustainably produced local coffee. Canoeing, kayaking, gorilla trekking, and cultural tours are available to visitors. Picnics and swimming are welcome at Gisenyi Public Beach. It would be a pity to miss the opportunity to wander around the charming Main Market, taste beers at the brewery, or watch kids compete in dance, music, and gymnastics at the neighbourhood youth cultural centre.

08
Day 08: Relaxing day at Lake Kivu beach Shore

Enjoy a leisurely morning with breakfast at your own pace, followed by a day spent unwinding at the lodge with lunch and more free time. Canoeing, going on a boat ride, and swimming are just some of the optional activities that are available to you in the Lake Kivu region when you have some free time.

09
Day 09: Transfer to Nyungwe and Boat ride in Kibuye

After a leisurely morning spent eating breakfast, you should jump in your vehicle and go to Nyungwe. You’ll get stunning vistas of Lake Kivu and the Congo side as you make your way down the trail. You will go on a boat trip in Kibuye, which is located on Lake Kivu. During this voyage, you will stop at a number of islands and have the opportunity to see a variety of bird species that inhabit the lake, since the area is known as a paradise for birdwatchers. After some time has passed, circle back and make your way to the hotel, where you have a reservation for lunch and the rest of the day.

Cyangugu is a town that was once known as Shangugu. It is located at the most southern extremity of Lake Kivu and overlooks the town of Bukavu, which is located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The town is a popular entry point to both the lake and the Nyungwe National Park, which are located nearby. The park is a stunningly beautiful forest that is home to chimpanzees as well as a variety of other species of monkey.

10
Day 10: Chimpanzee Trekking and tea plantation visit

Enjoy a cup of African coffee in the morning before leaving your lodge and making your way to Nyungwe National Park for a briefing and a chimpanzee walk through the park’s natural woodland, which is known for being home to 13 distinct species of monkeys. You’ll get an hour to go chimp-watching, then lunch and a visit of the Gisakura tea plantations, where you’ll learn about the many stages of tea production from planting to harvesting. Return to the lodge after the day’s adventures to relax for the evening and get some rest.

11
Day 11: Waterfall Hike and Canopy walk

Today’s waterfall walk will take you through the forest and to many waterfalls in the park. Hike a waterfall in the forest today. The walkway may have numerous monkeys and birds. After lunch, you’ll canopy stroll. While walking on this 90-metre-long suspended metal bridge, you may observe one or two more primates in the jungle. You may return in the afternoon for dinner and an overnight stay. This Rwandan bridge is in Nyungwe Forest.

Nyungwe Forest Isumo Waterfalls Hike

The Isumo Waterfall Trail starts among goat-managed green tea farms. Sunflowers and butterflies abound in these pastures. The trail enters Nyungwe Forest, home to a variety of flora and fauna. The hike’s highlight is the 17-metre Isumo Waterfall. Monkeys and birds are abundant around the waterfall. Two main sites provide stunning waterfall views.

Canopy Walk

Participants at Ngungwe National Park’s canopy walk, which hangs over a ravine in the park’s green flora and montane forest, may see ancient trees and animals. The 160-meter suspension bridge will be accessible to hikers on the Imbaraga, Umuyove, and Igishigishigi trails

12
Day 12: Return to Kigali

In the morning, after a restful breakfast, you’ll check out of your hotel and begin the trip to Kigali. Along the way, you’ll stop at the Royal Palace Museum in Southern Province, where you can learn a lot about the history of royalty in Rwanda and the traditional lifestyle of ordinary Rwandans. When you arrive in Kigali in the afternoon, you may do some souvenir shopping (perhaps at a local market and an art gallery) before being taken to the airport for your nighttime trip back home.
