This magnificent nine-day woodland safari starts in Nairobi, the most vibrant city in East Africa. If you arrive early enough, a variety of tours are available, including those to the renowned National Museum and the attractions in the adjacent district of Karen, such as Karen Blixen’s farmhouse and Giraffe Manor. Giraffe Manor draws giraffes, consistent with its name. They have been seen poking their heads into the dining room, which is a genuinely uncommon occurrence.
Leaving Nairobi in the morning, make your way to the Samburu National Reserve, stopping for pictures at the Equator along the way. Lunch may be had at the safari lodge, which is located on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River. Following lunch, you will begin preparing for your late afternoon game viewing drive that will take place inside the reserve. Included in this package are not only lunch and dinner but also overnight lodgings at Samburu or a similar site. The morning game drives in Samburu have a very early start time. There is a chance that you may observe reticulated giraffes, Beisa oryx, Samburu ostriches, and Gerenuks here. Come back to the lodge for a leisurely late breakfast, and then spend the rest of the day doing whatever you like at your own pace. There is the option to stay in Samburu or a similar area with a full board.
The area is well renowned for its elephant population, but it is also home to some of the world’s most endangered animals. The world’s most beautiful giraffe, the reticulated giraffe, and Grevy’s zebra cannot be found anywhere else. This area is home to both the rare long-necked Impala known as the Gerenuk and the blue-legged Somali ostrich. The Gerenuk is also known as “the Impala with a long neck.” Your Kenya vacation package will enable you to see numerous common animals, such as buffalo, common zebras, gazelles, and large predators, as well as Kenya-endemic species, such as the Grevy’s zebra. The reserve’s owners, who all have a genuine interest in this magnificent location, will give you tours and explain everything as you go. There will be possibilities for unusual activities like walking, as well as opportunities for river safaris and cave exploration. This experience will be comparable to staying at a dude ranch in the United States, with the exception that you will hear lions roaring at night!
Due to our inability to forecast how long it would take to navigate the back roads of these very remote wildernesses, today’s schedule will be somewhat unstructured. As part of your Kenya safari vacation package, you will spend the morning at the ranch and then make your way back up the escarpment to Mount Kenya in the afternoon. The evening is spent in the historic splendour of the Mount Kenya Safari Club, once owned by William Holden and now serving as the headquarters of the renowned William Holden Wildlife Foundation. If you arrive early enough, you will have the opportunity to see the renowned animal orphanage before the exquisite dinner.
Mount Kenya is the departure point for the aircraft that will take you to the Masai Mara, which is often considered to be the best big game reserve in all of Kenya. You are expected to arrive at the camp in time for lunch, and then you will spend the afternoon observing wild animals. During your trip to Kenya, you will get to bask in the splendour of Il Moran, an extravagant camp that is located on the banks of the Mara River. You will stay there for three nights.
Every day, guests are treated to two to three open-air game drives in Land Rovers and Land Cruisers with some of the country’s most experienced guides. Everyone’s conception of Africa is realised in the Mara, which comprises gently sloping grassland plains bisected by a number of major rivers. Numerous leopard sightings have been reported in this location, which is overflowing with lions and cheetahs. The plains are home to an abundance of species, including wildebeest, hartebeest, topi, and eland. If you make a reservation in advance, you will be able to visit a Maasai village and ride in a hot-air balloon. At the end of each day, you make your way back to your luxury camp’s spectacular splendour.
After spending the whole morning seeing animals in their natural environment, you will fly back to Nairobi and be transferred to the Norfolk Hotel to clean up and pack. Your driver will again pick you up in the evening to transport you to the airport in time for your flight. This is the last destination on your “Nine Luxurious Days in the Forest” Kenya safari.
