No matter what time you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Halisia Africa driver-guide will be there to greet you with a kind greeting and provide transportation to your hotel. While he drives you to your room in Arusha, Tanzania, which calls itself the "safari capital of the world," take some time to relax in the comfortable car at your disposal. While you are making your way to the hotel, you will get a glimpse of this major city, which is known for its busy business district. Your pre-safari briefing could take place today, depending on what time you get here; if not, it will take place first thing in the morning of the following day. Dinner and overnight in a pre-reserved hotel in Arusha A pre-reserved hotel room in Arusha, Tanzania, with dinner and overnight accommodations included.
Unless you arrived yesterday early, your safari briefing will be after breakfast. Before heading west to Lake Manyara National Park, we'll provide you all the necessary details. You'll stop at Mtowambu for a morning cultural tour and a tasty local lunch, then in Lake Manyara National Park for afternoon wildlife drives. The park has 400 bird species, primate-filled woods (watch for long-tailed Guenon monkeys), and grassy plains. Alkaline Lake Manyara is home to flamingos and other aquatic birds. You may also see giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, and impalas, and the nearby woodlands are full of monkeys and baboons. From the safari vehicle's pop-up top, you can enjoy nature. In the evening, depart Lake Manyara National Park for your accommodation and dinner in Karatu.
After breakfast, you'll continue your safari towards Serengeti National Park. Along the way, you'll see the beautiful Karatu highland fields and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA). The highlands will soon be in the rearview mirror as you travel further into the heart of wild Africa. In the afternoon, you'll get the chance to enjoy a game drive within Serengeti National Park after arriving in time for a picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight in a pre-booked lodge.
After a hearty breakfast at the lodge, you'll set out for a morning wildlife drive in the park before packing a lunch and making the journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There will be a stop at Olduvai Gorge, where people have lived since the beginning of time. Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey, who are anthropologists, found the skulls of "Nutcracker Man" and "Handy Man" here. These two people are important links in the chain of human evolution. You'll get there in plenty of time to unwind, eat, and stay the night at the lodge.
After a hearty breakfast, you'll pack a picnic lunch and go down into the crater for a full day of wildlife viewing on a crater tour. The collapse of land after a volcanic eruption created the biggest caldera on Earth. It has a diameter of around 18 kilometres and is home to over 25,000 creatures. In this relatively small area, you may locate practically all the mammals of East Africa, ranging from Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles to mountain reedbucks in the woods on the slopes. Spotted hyenas, uncommon wild canines, and over 500 species of birds are all possible sightings. The Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard—can all be seen in the crater during the short time visitors spend there. Return to Arusha in the afternoon for a drop-off at the airport or somewhere in the city, marking the conclusion of your five-day big cat safari.
Following breakfast at the resort in Serengeti National Park, you will travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in northern Tanzania. After lunch, you will go down into the Ngorongoro crater, some 600 metres below the surface, to look for wildlife. Animals that may be sighted in Ngorongoro crater include wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, elephants, lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, leopards, and waterbucks.
Flamingos, hippos, and other bird species may be seen on safari in Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwest section of Ngorongoro crater. You will check into the lodge, where meals and lodging have been reserved for you.
Following breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and get ready to be driven to Arusha. Once you arrive in Arusha, your guide will drop you off at the airport or hotel, marking the conclusion of your seven-day safari across Kenya and Tanzania.
